評価：３／５（普通におもしろい９
「女たちのジハード」がおもしろかったので、篠田節子を作家買いすることにしました。近所の本屋あったこの本を買ってすぐに読了。
架空の国が設定され、そこが異文化の「コンタクト・ゾーン」であるという作りです。
私には「コンタクト・ゾーン」はまさに一昔前の日本に思えて仕方ありませんでした。さまざまな慣習、宗教の違いへの寛容さ、小さなことへの悩み、小競り合いと侵略。何故か、幼い頃に見た「瀬戸内少年野球団」（「瀬戸内三部作メモリアル DVD-BOX」夏目雅子）を思い出しました。
「なかなかに女性向けの娯楽作品としておもしろいかも。日本の昔を思い出すわー。タイムスリップ作品かもー」と思いながら読了後に初出を見ると、サンデー毎日での連載とのことで、かなりびっくりしました。
連載作品なのに破綻がほとんどないし、いわゆるサービスシーンらしきものもあったのですが、それは物語上で意味があるように思えて不自然には思えませんでした。さすが、うまいなあ、と思いました。
そして、なにより意外だったのが、「サンデー毎日」の読者層であろう男性が読むものと考えると、なんというか女性側の自己弁護（女性の読み物として考えると娯楽としてそういうのもあるのは歓迎なのですが…）ととれるものが多く、男性が読むとただの説教臭さに思えるのではないかなー、と思いました。
